i have tried to teach the girls to knit a few times and each time it is too soon. They sort of got the hang of it a few months ago on one of these tries. This morning, Juliana asked to knit with me. So i got her some fun pink and purple yarn and pink needles, cast on for her, and she was off. she is currently on her 4th row. Ella ofcoruse wanted in on the fun so I got her some yarn and needles to her liking, and she has been trying to make it work all morning. She is doing a yo after all stitches and can not figure out how to stop. But it is still progress.
I have been looking forward to the day that my girls and I can sit on the couch and craft together. And here it is!
What a glorious thing!

So after much thought, Chris and i had a brilliant idea for the kids Christmas present. We are going to build them a big cardboard box cottage in the playroom. We will sneak and set it up on Christmas eve while they are asleep, and have a tiny tree and presents and stockings in the cottage.
We ate the Childrens ministers at our church and we learned how to make great buildings and what not with cardboard and these rivet things found at

we did the castle for a series on bravery. It was awesome and lasted for 6 weeks.
We have a basic design and floor plan. We start building it in the garage next wee. I will document as much as i can.

so this is not really a string related craft. But it just may be my favorite of the summer. We have been working really hard on our yard, even thought it is not really ours. We have spent the last few Saturdays at the Lowes scanning the clearance isles. We did our entire yard with one dollar plants. then we found these tan plastic chairs for $8. I was just glad to have something to sit on in our yard or porch. Then i thought about spray paint andt hen my wonderful hubby said”lets put design on them” What brilliance. Red plastic spray paint was purchased. We headed home and spent about 20 minutes deciding on the theme and printing them out. We took the boy outside and got to work. 1 hour later, we have charming chairs on the porch. LOVE!

I am finished with my zigzag cowl. I messed up early on and frgged and corrected. It turned out beautifully. Then it dawned on me that It will never get that cold here in the south. So a member of my famiy who lives in a very cold area may be getting this as a gift.
Last week I made a bag from some vintage like fabric i had in the small stash. It turned out great, but soo small
