i finally put on my big girl knitting pants.
In the past i have yearned to have tons of great yarn and needles and patterns ect. But due to finances I had cheap needles and lots of acrylic. My books were limited to the three s-n-b books. In the last two weeks i have finally matured in my knitting life. First I ordered my first bunch of yarn from Knitpicks. I am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I cot cotton and some alpacca and superwash wool. Second, there was a 50% off coupon for the big M and a yarn sale there all in one weekend. Now i was not as stoked as i could be due to the limited selection at my particular Michael’s. But after careful examination, i found a book that had a few patterns i liked and i bought sock yarn and needles. And out of total desperation i bought some semi lame cotton with the hope that i can dye it. Thirdly, is that a word, Chris called me with a request to make a gift for a girl in our youth group we work with. So he (ready for this) asked me to go get yarn and stuff and make it! I got his blessing to get more knitting things!! I never thought this day would come. So back to the M we go with little. I was going to make a flower broach that i had made with great success in the past. but there was no yarn in the store that would work. Then i saw this amazing yarn that was pink yummyness. Patons SWS in natural geranium. Soy wool stripes. YUM! two of my worst allergens in one wonderful skein. Then i spot a book that looks good. One Skein,30 quick projects to knit and crochet by Leigh Radford. .
So home i raced and stitched up the Ruffle Cravat and it was wonderful. And to top it off, no allergic reaction. it is my new favorite yarn.

a wonderful girl in my mamma circle, Jamie, has started a knitting group of this name. I am so excited. Some one else to share in my mad obcession with yarn and knitting. They met the other day but i could not make it. We are going to try socks. A first for me. i got some nice cotton in a veregated purple and some not so nice needles. i hate metal needles. but the michaels here has such a stinky selection of knitting accoutroments. Now if i could just transport Mandy here to knit with me, or me there to knit with her. Anyway i look forward to the many dizzy hourse we can all spend knitting and chatting about knitting.

So here is the problem for a person who loves to knit and all things yarn and even fabric and also hads horribe allergies. I am totaly allergic to wool. I keep trtying to knit with it but to no avail. I tried a few weeks ago. I chose a lovely lace scarf to knit and purchasesd two skeins of fallish wool and begasn to knit. Now at the beginning of this adventure, my hands were in pristine condition. no eczema in sight , smooth and lovely. 40 rown in to this project o notice my knuckles starting to swell and a red spot forming on my fingers. Sop i put it down and walk away. One hour later i have had to take two benedryls to stop the horrific itching and now my fingers are swoller, cracked and all around icky.
So what am i left with. I love cotton but it is hard to find here. I HATE ACCRYLIC namely red heart. i have knit with so much of it i never want to touch it again. SO can i try alpaca or somethign else. i am getting antsy to find some cotton lace weight and get to knotting my scarf and a find a sweater and get moving on it.
