knitting this week

I have been knee deep in dish cloths this week. I made my first ball band and it was so much fun that i made a second one.  the other two were of mo real consequence but fun none the less.

I knit in church. And i know that most people think i am nuts but it helps me focus on the sermon. Yesterdays was on Romans 10.  the fact that i can remember the topic is amazing but i also have a great new dish cloth.  I sit in the back  so not to distract others. But it is so soothing and i stay awake.

I realized that Ella’s birthday is next week!eek! So i searched the patterns on ravelry for the perfect gift. We are not giving toys this year. The grands are taking the girls to Disney World this weekend for 4 days for their birthday. And they need nothing.  Ella loves things i knit for her. i mean LOVES them. So i decided on Emma’s unmentionables from Knitty spring 2008. I hate the selection of yarn stores in my area. I ended up at Michael’s and got patons Grace in a lettuce green. I have started the second leg and am looking forward to getting tons of knitting done while the girls are gone.

another three months with no post.

So , i am figuring out that homeschooling to kids and chasing another one (sometimes two) i never even have the chance to knit. But now we are in summer break and I am goign to catch up by God.  I intend to start my sisters top for christmas and finis the Lena that I started in January.  I knit at the library the othe day while the kids watched a movie at the Summer Reading Program. I have made things the last three months, i just have not documented them.  I made Juliana two dresses with a knitted top and fabric shirt. too cute. I made the wrap around skirt from Sew Everything Workshop. It was to smalla dn I gave it to my new friend Melike. I knitted a dream swatch for my new dreadlocks. There is somethign else but i can not remember it now. I went to Savannah to the Joanns and spent 60 clams on fabric, Oh and an apron, i made and apron. I got two patterns for tops but i forgot to get interfacing. i need to break down and go to Waldermort. I made a pirate map for the sundayschool .

I hope to make those two tops in the next few weeks. My mom is comming to visit and I hope maybe we can craft together. I would love it.

had it really been three months since i posted

man a move can realy throw you off. I did survive the christmas crazyness. I did indeed make all i intended to. I scored some debbie bliss cashmerino at my moms house and a db fall 07 pattern book. I am trying to make Lena. (more on this in a moment) I got  a few more skeins of yarn at various places. I started pedi socks and wristlets. I made rocket mittens. I Started a baby sweater for my friend Nicole who had the baby and i still have to finish the sleves.

Ihave yet to photograph any of these with exception to the Lena. Oh the lena. I have loved the kniotting of it. I started the back and worked for 17 inches. I put it in my bag to take it to chruich. I did not knit there so i went to get it out last weekend to work on. Our friend Tim was visiting from out of town. I pulleed it out and noticed that he needle was not in it.  I almost cried. Rocket had talen the entire work off the needles. I am to scared to try to figure out how to fix it. I had hopped to wear it for easter and now all i am dooing is mourning hte lost work. I dont want to frog the enitre 17 inches of knitted wonderfullness.  i quess i will find someone to help me figure it all out.

On the sewing front, I got a bunch of beautiful fabric and patterns from ny sweet husband. I Amy Buttler pattern and some appron patterns.  I also scored like 40 vintage kids patterns of of ebay. I went to the local Thrift store and scored some sheets to make dresses from. I am too happy. SO i am looking forward to having some time to sew.

the wonderful christmas craft crunch!

So here we are the friday before christmas and 4 days to go. I am up to my eyebrows in knitting, sewing and finishing to be done for christmas. Thsi year it is more than last year as we have decided to do a china and sweatshop free christmas. Which i fully support , but i wish we had decided this in like June. There is no way to find toys at the local stores. We ordered a few things but i am making the majoridity and have been working full time and what not. So far i am done with Ella;s skirt, Rockets lemon, lime, apple, and strawberries. I am in the process of a nother apple and Juliana, Hufflepuff scarf and hat, Juliana;s, Hedwig, And her wand pouch. clearly Juliana is having a very Hogwarts Christmas. I amsl have to finish my mom and sisters wristlets, but i figure i can do that in the car on the way to indiana.

So i want to kwno what you all are feindishly trying to finish.

ok back to the apple.

Happy Holidays

christmas crafting hysteria

so it is now the third of December and i still have a list of things to craft for gifts.  there are so many wip’s that i can hardly keep them straight. I have made ella a skirtsicle and rocket a bunch of knitted friut. I am in the process of a toy bag for the baby i sit for, an owl for Juliana and a set of hufflepuff items too, and a few other items.

i can feel the insanity now. i want to make a doll for each kid but i have not even got all the fabric together.

we are going small for christmas this year as we are moving yet again after the first of the year.

Its Harry Potter Day!

the long awated day has come and 30 minutes ago it just got better. I checked my email to find and invite to Ravelry! i am so freakin excited. anyway, i have spent the last week listening to every harry potter podcast i could find and re reading the books and working on my huffelpuff scarf. it is almost done. i will take it along tonight to keep me busy.  I am off to prepare the reading spot for the next few days.

‘oh im too excited to post more!

bib for a new friend

alyssabib21.jpgalyssa-bib1.jpgI have made a bib for my new charge. Her name is Alyssa and she is 6 months old and a right lovely girl. I had been wanting to make it for a long time but finally have been having a burst of FO’s.

the patern is from ONE SKEIN  and it was the Petal Bib patern. It was a great quick knit and i plan on making her a few more. I love the short rows. love to do those. The one think i think i will do different is the pattern calls for sport weight and i will use worsted next time. It will make a more sturdy bib. the sport weight is just a little lacy fancy and a bib needs to have umph!

i can not tell you what the yarn is . I knwo i purchased it a michales and it is mercerized cotton. maybe pattons? the lable is long gone.  any way it is sure cute.
